A Summer weekend in Rye

Last weekend we went on a little weekend break to one of our favourite places, Rye in East Sussex. It was just Stef, me and little baby Rudi. Once a month we have a weekend for ourselves, without the children but of course until Rudi is a little older she is always with me. This is our indulgence and it certainly keeps us sane as parents and connected and happy as a couple. Worth every penny. Most months we stay at home for our weekend but once in a while it's nice to go away and have a little holiday. This was like a little babymoon with Rudi. I'm sure she loved having a bit of peace and quiet, and more attention that usual!

We stayed at the Ship Inn where we stayed last year and it was so lovely to be back there again. It's a lovely, relaxed, happy place to stay with great food and brilliant attention to detail, including wonderful use of pattern and Burt's Bees toiletries!

We didn't do much. Lots of eating, talking, feeding Rudi, some reading, writing, a little potter around Rye and a quick evening stroll along the beach. We didn't go to Camber Sands as we usually do as it was incredibly crowded. I don't even think we could have got in the car park. Summer is here at last, so everyone is at the beach. Plus a little baby on the beach on a very hot day doesn't really work. There will be many more trips to Camber in the future though. If you haven't been, add it to your list!

And of course no trip to Rye would be complete without a trip to one of my favourite shops, the Lion Street Store. `

I can highly recommend both a babymoon and a weekend in Rye! And so can Rudi!

Where is your favourite place for a weekend break? It's always lovely to have places on a list for a future little getaway! x
