No French holiday is really complete with a visit to at least one Château! As a child I spent a lot of my Summer holiday days visiting castles in France. My Dad is slightly obsessed to say the least! I loved it though and it was really fun to take my children to their first Château last week. We went to Château de Bridoire, which has sadly seen a lot of damage in the past fifty years or so but it is now open to the public again. The grounds are perfect for children and surrounded by the castle walls and towers they can play lots of old traditional games and dress up as knights. We did have a quick look inside but at the moment my children still get a little bit scared when they go into a castle. Lots of excitement and then the need to quickly escape!
If you are staying in the Dordorgne I'd recommend a trip. If you follow me on Twitter you might have been reading that we're really hot over here. Sorry if it sounds like I'm moaning about being on holiday but it really is very hot and as I'll write about soon, this can make being on holiday with a 5, 3 and 1 year old quite challenging. We are having lots of fun in the swimming pool though!
